In this event for all ages, we are welcoming everyone to come view the eclipse at the library! The eclipse begins at 1:50 pm and will complete around 4:30 pm, with 3:10 pm being peak coverage for Paw Paw. Stop in to receive a free pair of eclipse glasses and participate in crafts and activities!

Playdough Playdates

1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month | 10 am – 11 am
Join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month during the school year for our Playdough Playdates. We provide playdough, tools, stencils, playmats and a space for you and your toddlers to play and build in this early-learning STEAM activity. Network while your children have fun and learn together.

This lapsit storytime is for children from birth to preschool age and their adult caretaker. Nursery rhymes, stories, songs and bounces can be enjoyed in this early literacy program.

Ever wish you could vote, or make your opinion count as a kid? Well, now you can! Each month at the library, you can vote on a variety of topics, and we will post the results on our website afterwards. Come by the library, and let us know what you think!

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Start your child’s journey as a life-long reader. The goal is to read 1000 books (repeated titles are okay!) before starting Kindergarten. Earn a small reward for every 100 books read. Upon completion, they will have their photo taken and added to our Wall of Fame. Start reading today!

Smokey Bear Reading Challenge

The USDA Forest Service is teaming up with libraries nationwide for the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge to celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday. The challenge invites children aged 4-10 to read books, do fun activities and learn about wildfires and the environment. Just Register on Beanstack and stop in for a bookmark and sticker. Complete eight activities before November 28, Smokey’s birthday, and earn a certificate.

500 Books Before Middle School

500 Books Before Middle School

Read a book, any book, and have fun! The goal is to read 500 books before you start middle school. Earn rewards for reaching milestones along the way. Registration can begin at any time for any child in grades K-5. Best of all, you can complete the program at your own pace.

Step up to the plate and join the Kalamazoo Growler’s Reading Program where you can turn your love for reading into an unforgettable day at the ballpark! Log four hours of reading in total on Beanstack by May 31st to unlock fantastic rewards, including a ticket to catch a Kalamazoo Growlers home game! With each hour you read, you’ll round the bases, moving closer to a home run.
